My name is Paula Taggart. I have been a resident of South Amboy for 37 years. I have 4 children who are products of our district: Samantha (2006), Benjamin (2007), Jacqueline (2016) and Cassandra (2019).

Prior to being elected to the Board, I was an active volunteer among several city programs. I served on the SAYAA Ladies Auxiliary when my two oldest played rec baseball and softball and was a Girl Scout troop leader from 1995-1998. I was also a PTO member/class mother while my children were in school and served on their Executive Board as Vice President for a few years. In the early 2000s I was selected as a Lifetime Member of the PTO.

In 2009 I was elected to the Board of Education. During this time I served on several committees within our district, attended county meetings, annual conferences and delegates assemblies. In May of 2016, I became a Certified Board Member (CMB) and in May of 2021 I became a Master Board Member (MBM). While serving on the Board during this 15 year period, one of my greatest achievements was the refurbishing of the Elementary School in 2018. Due to personal reasons, I stepped away from the Board at the end of my term in December of 2021. Knowing I still wanted to make a difference to better our district, I ran for a seat in 2022 and was re-elected.

I believe that I bring a diverse perspective to the Board with my experience as a parent and community volunteer, as well as the knowledge I gained from serving on the Board for 15 years. The passion I have for not just the children of this district, but our district as a whole, drives me to work with the other members of our Board and the administration to make South Amboy schools the best they can be!
