Patrick Walsh graduated from Rutgers New Brunswick with a double major in Political Science and Public Policy with a minor in Economics. He has also earned his masters degree in Public Policy with a concentration in Budget and Finance at Rutgers Bloustein School. A loyal son of South Amboy, Patrick Walsh has lived in the community all his life, graduating 3rd in his class from South Amboy High School and becoming a two-time track and field and cross country state champion. At Rutgers, he serves as the captain of the track and field and cross country team and represents Rutgers' entire student athlete population as the vice president of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee.

He has given back to the community in many capacities. He is currently serving his second term on the South Amboy Board of Education, has received his Board Member Certification, and was unanimously elected by his colleagues as Board President in 2021 and 2022. Patrick Walsh was also appointed to the South Amboy Municipal Alliance in 2019 and currently serves as the vice-chair of the committee. He also is on the board of the South Amboy YMCA and represents Middlesex County on the board of directors for New Jersey School Boards. Patrick, at 22 years old, currently serves as the youngest board president in the city's history and will continue to look to make a positive impact on a community and school district that has done so much for him.
