My name is Janet Kern. I am a lifelong resident of South Amboy. I graduated from the old Hoffman High School in South Amboy, and both of my sons went through the South Amboy School District. While serving as a member of the South Amboy Board of Education, I was President for 3 years; Vice President, and I have faithfully served on all committees. I attended county meetings, state meetings and numerous workshops. In 2024, I retired as a Paraprofessional for the NJ Education Services Commission (ESCNJ) after 18 years of service. Prior to that, I was employed in the South Amboy Elementary School cafeteria for 12 years.

Currently, I volunteer at the food pantry at the Presbyterian Church on Broadway. I am on the South Amboy Planning Board; a member of the Friends of South Amboy, and on the board at the YMCA. I have been a part of the Purple and Gold Club at the Middle High School for many years. I also have been on the Principal's Advisory Committee, Past South Amboy First Aid Aux, PTO, Elks Club of South Amboy, the South Amboy Lions Club, Youth Conference Committee, and Safety Committee when I was employed by ESCNJ.
