Welcome to my 2016-2017 Science site...!
A brief introduction about myself: My name is Mrs. Geeta Nisraiyya
I have a Masters in Physics and Electronics and hold a NJ State Teaching License in Physical Sciences. I am an educator at SAHS since 2003 and this is my 15th year. On the personal side, I'm married to my late husband, a wonderful man for the last 28 years and have two awesome kids 25 and 22 years young.
At SAHS, I have taught Earth Science (Grade 8), Astronomy-Geology & Oceanography (Grades 11-12)Physical Sciences (Grade 9) & for the first time a class of Life Science (Grade 7) & Chemistry in the Community (Grades 11-12) last year.
I currently am teaching 3 classes Lab. Phyiscs (Grades 11-12), Lab. Chemistry (Grades 11-12) and a Physical Science -Honors (Grdae 9) this year.
The best way to reach me is via email: and I'll surely respond within 24 hrs/1 business day. If needed, you may also call the school telephone @ 732-316-7669 and leave me a message.
2017-2018 Courses:
Lab. Chemistry is a 5 credit elective course offered to juniors/seniors. Most students who want to pursue a pharmaceutical and/or a related medical field career are advised by guidance to opt for this course to facilitate them in college. The prerequisite for this subject is prior Physical Science credits and a solid Math aptitude.
On the other hand, Lab. Physics is a weighted 5 credit lab. course, offered every two years in SAHS to juniors and senior eager to pursue any science/engineering program in college. It just lays down the foundation of basic mathematical and applied physics building up on the prerequisite of an excellent math aptitude and physical science base. Also, freshmen Physical Sciences are along the lines of both Physics and Chemistry at a basic level.
This year, I have three classes of Lab. Chemistry with 50 wonderful students as of now. Also, I have an awesome class of Lab. Physics with juniors & seniors.
Looking forward to an exciting educational year! Hop on our speedy roller-coaster and hold tight or let's mix up a chemical shake!

December News!

posted Nov 30, 2017, 5:53 AM by Geeta Nisraiyya   [ updated Nov 30, 2017, 5:54 AM ]

Here we go into the final month of 2017.... Just a reminder!

  • 3 weeks of school time-15 school days till Winter Recess!
  • Spirit Week commences Dec.14th, ends Dec. 22nd
  • Lab. Chemistry continues with Energy and Chemical Changes
  • Lab. Physics closes on Work, Power & Energy & introduction of Simple Machines
  • Physical Science-H closes on Newton's laws of motion & Introduction of Work, Power & Energy
  • Chem League meets again every Tuesday mornings and Wednesdays immediately after school in Rm. 222
  • Quizzes, tests and labs once every week.
  • MP2 Research based Project due 12/1/17 and Presentations for a Summative grade the following week prior to break!
  • Marking Period 2 Progress Remarks coming in soon around 12/11/17
  • Journal entries on relevant concepts learned with each chapter.
  • Both Binder/Notebook check and Journals for a Formative Grade coming up after the holidays, so be ready!

 MP2 Mid-year Project:

Students were given sufficient time during November to prepare and research their MP2 Project based on the subject matter, due 12/1/17.  Each class was given an opportunity to pick their class team-mate (if decide to work 'solo'- extra credit). Project is based on producing a 'Power-Point' on Chapters/topics/sub-topics learned so far. Rules, rubrics and grading criteria were discussed each week, also reminders given intermittently. Presentations will take place the week of 12/4/17 and complete prior to Spirit Week. Each power-point needs to have at least 5 important pertinent information slides, not counting Creator-Title, Start-The End, Annotations, etc page. Scoring will be based as a Summative Test Project Grade~60 % with Presentation & Research.

Last but not least, with all the distractions of fundraiser sales, competitions, spirit week activities, festivities and high-spirits, students will be constantly reminded of their responsibility, awareness and importance of maintaining good grades amidst everything!

  • Also, class selection of "Stars" based on highest GPA.

Here comes Marking Period 2 (11/08/17 to 01/26/17): the shortest and most high spirited in festivities, holidays and breaks. Not to forget the chances of low or dropping grades hence.

  • MP 2 Project: Based on a research based investigation subject relevant, due 12/4/17.
  • Labs-hands on, quizzes and tests as usual.
  • Lab. Chem students selected for the Chemistry Science League-Students meets every Monday & Friday-Room 222 @ 7:45 am

We will continue in Chemistry withe Energy and Chemical Systems. In Physical Science, we will introduce Work, Power and Energy."

Parent-Teacher conferences on Nov. 20 in the evening and Nov. 21 in the morning. Parent/guardian are encouraged to attend. (Parents! Please check email if a conference is needed and suggested by me).

Prior to Winter Recess I will announce and discuss the end of the semster Journal and Notebook/Binder check due dates, etc.

Here we swing into the real deal! Continue to learn, practice and apply all the math, lab-safety, problem-solving, Labs and lab-reports, and other basics needed in both Physical Sc. & Chemistry. We will be introducing and learning about Matter, States & Properties of matter and the Atomic Structure in depth.

We will start off with a lab-experiments with simple measuring instruments such as a Triple Beam Balance, graduated cylinder, etc~ wherein students will measure simple things such as mass of given objects, perimeter/area/volume of both regular and irregular shaped objects (ex. octagonal lab-table) and few more using few simple measuring instruments.

Thereafter, we will show comprehension on all the concepts learned via a Quiz followed by a major section Test. Please study as this year the Tests fall under 60% summative grades.

Not to forget, as early as 10/4/17 you will looking at your first Progress-remarks of the year!

Also, this month we will start the selection process and meeting dates for the Chem-Science League based on class testing grades, testing preparedness, punctuality and commitment.
