What's Happening at the MHS???

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Some interesting happenings at the MHS:

*Reminder:The PTO Color Run is coming. Information went home last week. Please encourage your child to get involved. It will benefit our school. Deadline is 9/25/17.

*Financial Aid presentation Wednesday, 9/20/17, at 6:30 pm in the MHS media center.

*Back-to-School Night Thursday, 9/21/17. Please arrive in the auditorium by 6:00 pm. This is a short session day for students. They will be dismissed at 12:15 pm.

*Open House for middle school 9/21/17 from 8:45 to 9:45 am.  Please note we made a change. Starting 15 minutes earlier than originally scheduled.

*Open House for high school 9/22/17 from 9:00 to 10:00 am

*Yearbook forms available on the Principals Page. Consider ordering early to save money.

*Check Genesis - keep up on how your child is performing as the year progresses.

*You can always check our webpage and online calendar to see what is happening at the MHS

Please consider yearbooks now if you are interested. The cheapest price will be now through September 30, 2017. After that, the cost increases.

Color-A-Thon Event!

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Today your child was introduced to our Color-A-Thon event being held at our school on Wednesday, 10/11/17, from 1:00 to 2:30 pm; rain date being 10/12/17.  Information was presented and students were given copies of the Color-A-Thon packets to take home.

Please take a look at this information (I have also provided an attachment for you to view) and discuss it with your child. This is an important fundraiser provided to our school by the PTO. The money will go to enhance the technology our school offers, specifically for Chromebooks.

  • Student photos Wednesday, 9/13/17 - see attachments. You can purchase online ahead of time.
  • Summer reading and math due Thursday, 9/14/17.
  • Financial Aid presentation Wednesday, 9/20/17.

The First Day of School Is Tomorrow!!!

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We are looking forward to seeing all of our students for the first day of school tomorrow. Here are some helpful points of interest:
  • We open our doors tomorrow at 8:00 am to welcome all of our students
  • High school students enter using the high school entrance - Middle school use the middle school doors
  • Upon arrival, students should go to their homeroom. Homeroom begins at 8:07 am
  • Any student arriving without a schedule can simply go to homeroom. Each homeroom teacher will distribute a copy to their students.
  • Student homeroom lists will be posted outside the main office as well as outside the guidance office.
  • I encourage all of my students to get a good night's sleep ensuring they are present and on time tomorrow.
  • Some important dates coming up: 
  • Tuesday, 9/12/17, is a PTO meeting 
  • Wednesday, 9/13/17, is PICTURE DAY for grades 6-11 - see attached documents for more information from Lifetouch - you can order online!!!
  • 8th grade parents may purchase a package from the 9/13/17 sitting and/or when cap and gown photos are taken on 10/18/17
  • Summer reading and math packets are due on 9/14/17
  • Financial Aid Presentation on 9/20/17
  • Back to School Night 9/21/17
  • Middle School Open House 9/21/17: High School 9/22/17 both from 9:00 to 10:00 am
  • Please remember to log on to Parent Access to see your child's schedule, academic performance and attendance.

Important Event "FED UP" at the MHS!!!

Dear Parents/Guardians:

This is an important reminder that there will be an event called FED UP at the Middle/High School this evening from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the school cafeteria. This event is being held today calling for an end to our Nation's epidemic of addiction and overdose deaths attributed to opioids (including heroin) and other prescription drugs.

All are invited and encouraged to attend this event that is sponsored by the City of South Amboy and the South Amboy Board of Education.

There will be speakers, resources, and a memorial vigil.

Please enter via the doors by the rear of the school, the auditorium entrance.

Welcome Back

Dear Parent/Guardian,


Welcome to another year of school. Our students will be returning Thursday, September 7, 2017, and the year will be underway. We will open our doors at 8:00 am and homeroom will begin at 8:07 am. We are returning to having homeroom come before period one, a change from last school year. The school day will end at 2:34 pm.  As we look to the start of the new year, please feel free to reach out to the staff at our school with questions that might arise.

 

If you have not done so already, please log onto Genesis so you can see your child's schedule. Once you log on you will be asked to read some important documents and enter information as requested. Please check the contact information we have on file in Genesis, be certain all telephone numbers and emails are correct. Anyone without a Genesis log on or experiencing difficulty logging on should call the school so we can assist you.

 

Our school communicates with parents in a number of ways. As principal, I utilize the email tool included with Genesis. I also use the school web page and our auto dialer. Thus, correct email addresses and phone numbers are important. Parents are invited to visit the announcements section on our school web page as well as the Principal's Page for important happenings at the school. On a daily basis you can also read the morning announcements that our students hear in homeroom. They are listed under MHS AM announcements on the school web. Our web announcements can also be found on Facebook and Twitter. 

 

We have some important dates coming up as school begins.

·  September 20, 2017 at 6;30 pm - Financial Aid presentation

·  September 21, 2017 at 6:00 pm - Back-to School Night

·  September 21, 2017 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am Middle School Open House

·  September 22, 2017 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am High School Open House

 

A reminder, the required summer Language Arts and Math packets are due by Thursday, September 14, 2017

Update - Summer Math Help (One Date Change)

Reminder we have four dates for summer math help at the Middle/High School. 

The dates are as follows; (one date has been changed) July 12, July 26, August 9 and August 23.  from 9:00 am to 11:00 am in the Middle/High School media center.

What's Happening During the Summer at the MHS?

Dear Parents,

I hope all of our school families enjoy the summer break.  During the summer our school will be open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am until 2:00 pm. If you need any assistance, please call or stop by the main office.

We have summer packets available online for Math and ELA. If you use this link: http://www.sapublicschools.com/mhs  it should take you to the folder for the summer packets.

There is also a link on the main webpage. Click on Middle/High School in the left column and you will see the folders for each subject. You can then download the appropriate packets. If you experience any difficulties contact the main office so we can assist.

We will have four, two hour math help sessions (from 9:00 am to 11:00 am)  in the Middle/High School Media Center. The dates are: July 12, July 19, August 9 and August 23.

We have also planned an orientation for our incoming sixth graders on Wednesday, August 30, 2017, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. All sixth graders and their parents are invited. Please RSVP to the school at 732-316-7668.

The requested school supplies students will need in September will be posted on our web shortly. I will notify you once it is available.
