Parent Conference Scheduler is Open

posted Nov 7, 2017, 7:03 AM by Patrick McCabe

Dear Parents/Guardians,

The parent conference scheduler is now available in Parent Access. If you log on at this time, you will be able to schedule a conference with each of your child's teachers.

Parents are encouraged to schedule conferences ahead of time. If you arrive to either of the conference days without doing so, your child's teachers will most likely not be available. Scheduling ahead of time also allows teachers to prepare for your conference with important information about your child to make the meeting as productive as possible.

Parents whose children have two teachers in the room at the same time: a general education and special education teacher, will not be able to meet with both of them together; I am sorry. Given the limitations of the scheduling of conferences, this is simply not possible at this time. If you contact the school we would be happy to schedule such a parent conference on another date.

Once you have scheduled conferences with your child's teachers, please make a copy of them. We will close the parent scheduler next week and, once we do so, you will not be able to view the conferences any longer.

All conferences will be five minutes long. Our teachers will be preparing information prior to your arrival to maximize your time together. If you find you need to meet further, such a meeting can be scheduled at any time during the school year.

If you have any questions, please call the school so we can assist you.

Thank you,
Dr. McCabe

The Governor's Educator of the Year Award

posted Oct 25, 2017, 10:36 AM by Patrick McCabe   [ updated Oct 25, 2017, 10:38 AM ]

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Please take a moment to consider educators at the Middle/High School, classroom teacher and/or educational services professional, that have made a positive impact on your child as well as others in our school community. It is important that we recognize, caring, dedicated and talented professionals. Please read below about the Governor’s Educator of the Year Award. If you have educators in mind, please take a moment to nominate him/her.

Each candidate will be scored based on the criteria below:

  • Inspires students of all backgrounds and abilities to learn;

  • Serves as an exceptionally skilled and dedicated educator in a public or charter school;

  • Expresses themselves in an engaging and articulate way;

  • Plays an active role in the community as well as the school;

  • Demonstrates leadership and innovation in and outside the classroom;

  • Has the respect and admiration of students, parent and colleagues.

We are all familiar with the term classroom teacher; however, educational service professional might not be as familiar. Here are examples of the titles for these professionals:

  • School Library Media Specialist

  • Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant

  • Reading Specialist

  • School Guidance Counselor

  • School Nurse

  • School Occupational Therapist

  • School Physical Therapist

  • School Psychologist

  • School Social worker

  • Speech-Language Specialist

  • Student Assistance Counselor

  • Paraprofessionals

You could nominate one person from each category by going to this link:    http://goo.gl/oLUEzU  and completing the nomination form.  The deadline to do so is Thursday 11/8/17. Administrators, staff members, parents, and community members are encouraged to participate.

I have also attached a copy of the nomination form provided by the state of New Jersey. If you wish, you may use this instead of our online form. All nominations are due by 11/8/17.

Sincerely,

Patrick McCabe, Psy.D.
