The City’s Annual Tree Lighting is on Wednesday, November 29th, at 6 pm (rain date is Friday, December 1st). The Recreation Department is looking for students interested in volunteering for community service hours. (Please sign up no later than Friday, November 24th, in the main office)


The City of South Amboy is looking for students interested in community service hours by volunteering with the City Recreation Department to remove snow during the winter months for the elderly population in South Amboy.

The NJHS invites you to their 2nd annual Game Night. It's next Thursday from 3:30pm to 5:00 pm and it's $5 to play. Please come join us!

Reminder to the 8th graders! Those of you working on the sketch for our Spirit Week T Shirts please see Mrs. Palmeri by the end of the day today.

Attention all band and chorus members- you MUST see Ms Alcuri today before the end of the day for important information. Be sure to stop by the music room!

Mrs. Smocovich and Mr. Hughes would like to thank all of the students who assisted with the Student Council Thanksgiving Pie Sale. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Spirit Week is coming! Our first two events, Food Drive and Toy Drive, will start when we come back next week. More information about Spirit Week will be available shortly.

South Amboy Players announce their 2018 Spring Musical will be THE LITTLE MERMAID.


A Mandatory meeting for all Middle/High School cast and crew will be held on Monday, November 20, 2017, at 12:30pm

If you are not in attendance you are not in the show.

Roles, casting and additional parts are being discussed.

We are also holding callback additions for Scuttle, Flounder, Sebastian, Mer-sisters, Chef Louis, Grimsby.


If interested in one of these roles you must sing A Part of Your World, and Under the Sea.

Elementary Audition will also be held on Monday November 20, 2017, starting at 3:00 pm

Boys sing Under the Sea, Girls sing A Part of Your World.

Any and all interested students who have not submitted an interest form should have a completed form to Mrs. Stratton by Friday, November 17, 2017.

Attention all 8th grade students there will be a brief class meeting today immediately after school in room 328.

Congratulations to our homecoming court: 9th grade: Nagelys Gomez and Casey Fenlon, 10th grade: Aryanne Rodrigues and Jacob Ross, 11th Grade: Alexis Calisti and Zach Honimar, and our Homecoming King Pawel Zalewski and our Homecoming Queen Breanna Vasquez.

Ms. Sherman and Ms. Spinapont would like to send out a huge thank you to Mrs. Smocovich, Ms. McQuade,. Mr. Hughes, Mr. Gonsalves, Mrs. Partenope, Mrs. Strzykalski, Mrs. Rutkowski, and Dr. McCabe for adding to the success of our homecoming dance. Also a big shout out to my 7th graders that stayed after school to help set up for the dance!

The Girls Varsity Tennis team isselling pullover sweatshirts, sale ends today. The price is $25.95 and order forms can be found outside of Mr. Wohlt's room 440. Order forms can also be found on the school website.

There will be a meeting for all boys and girls interested in running winter track in room 110 immediately after school today. If you are interested in joining the team but cannot attend the meeting please see Mr. Mecca.

The Pep Rally was a hit yesterday. Thank you to our seniors who organized the event, all of our student teams, our Pep Rally Band and our staff members who played and showed their Pop Culture knowledge. Congratulations to the Junior class team and the STEM Teachers Team for their Wins.

Reminder to high school students attending the Homecoming Dance: if you are leaving early, no earlier than 12:13 pm, you must report to the media center at the end of period five and go to the middle school side. You will wait there until your parent/guardian arrives.Students who are 18 may go to the main office to sign themselves out. We must have a note by now if someone other than your parent/guardian is signing you out early. The Dance begins at 7:00 pm and ends at 10:00 pm. Please arrive on time; no later than 7:30 pm.

Student Council Executive Board will meet today in Room 103 at 2:40.

The next General Membership Meeting for Student Council is Wednesday, November 15. We will be meeting in the Cafeteria. Food Survey will take place after our meeting.

Attention all chorus members, there will be a rehearsal today directly after school to prepare for upcoming events.

Would you like to join the South Amboy High School Players? Interest packets and forms are available for our Spring Musical from Mrs. Stratton in Room 433. Auditions will be held today starting at 2:45pm for lead and supporting roles only. See Mrs. Stratton with any questions.

All Middle School boys interested in trying out for basketball. There will be a meeting today after school in the gym.

Midterm elections aren't for another year but the two gubernatorial races in New Jersey and Virginia will give us an early window on how both parties will do when 36 governorships, 1/3 of the Senate, and all 435 House seats are up for election in 2018. The History Club is coordinating a school-wide mock election for the upcoming race for the New Jersey governorship. Voting will take place in homeroom on Election Day, that is today. Ballots will be collected by History Club members and results will be announced at the end of the school day. Please get to homeroom on time to cast your ballot. Remember- your vote is your voice!

There will be a brief meeting right after school for any high school girl interested in basketball. All paperwork is due tomorrow on Wednesday, Nov. 8

Attention all Seniors involved in the mural. We will meet during period 6 in room 328 on Wednesday, November 8th. Please some prepared with sketches and/ or ideas.

The boy's varsity soccer team ended it's successful season with a loss in the 2nd round of the state tournament to Asbury Park. Two notable highlights: Zenon scoring his first state tournament goal and Nick Mihalecko putting away a penalty kick. Our division record was 8-4-1 and over all we were 10-9-1. Coach G. would like to thank his seniors-Kasper Gurdak, Steve Fusco, Dan Davis , Kangni Chen and Zenon for their leadership throughout the season.

Tennis anyone?

There will be a bake sale today AND tomorrow near the middle school entrance to support the class of 2023! Bring your change AND your appetite!
