  • State Mandated School Violence Awareness Week South Amboy Middle/High will be observing the State Mandated School Violence Awareness Week Monday, October 20th through Friday, October 24th. Our Middle/High will be staff will conduct Anti-Bullying Meetings in all classrooms on Friday, and the meetings will continue monthly. The High School students will also be introduced to the "One Phone Call-One Life Saved" campaign. Witnesses to an alcohol or drug overdose situation, especially those underage, should not hesitate to call for help due to a fear of prosecution. Under the New Jersey Good Samaritan legislation, students will learn the conditions of the law. Lastly: Parents; check out www.SPEAKUP.com regarding anonymously reporting weapons threats.   • Girls Basketball Team Apparel Sale The girls basketball team is having their apparel sale from Nov. 3rd to Nov. 14th. Please consider buying a t-shirt, sweatshirt and/or sweatpants and support the team. All orders are due Nov. 14th to Mrs. Lewis (South Amboy High School) Order forms are available online and at the middle/high school.

    The 2014 Homecoming Dance will be Friday, November 14h. High school students may pick up permission slips in Mrs. Campbell's room #438 or see Thereze Javelosa.
    Haunted Hallway will be Friday, October 24th 6-8 pm. This classic attraction promises to send chills up and down your shivering spine.
    There will be a Cheerleading meeting on Wednesday, October 22nd, directly after school in room 108. Please plan to attend. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Doherty.
    Mr. Gore's High School Men's Group will meet Period 1 on Tuesday in Main Office Conference Room.
    Student Council Executive Board will meet on Tuesday, October 21 at 2:40 in Room 439.
    All Student Council Members: We have a meeting on Wednesday, October 22 at 2:40 in the Cafeteria. We will have our meeting and then the Food Advisory Committee.
    Attention all 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. The deadline for the Halloween dance is fast approaching! Please bring your money and permission slip to your class advisor by this Friday, October 24th. Don't miss out on this fun filled night!
    Attention all Seniors we will be meeting to discuss the Senior Mural on Wednesday October 22nd after school in room 328. Please be prompt 

    Last night the boys cross country team won a Star Ledger poll naming them the biggest surprise cross country team in the state this season. Thanks to all the students, staff and parents who took the time to vote; it was truly a community effort. Come watch the team you voted for take on New Brunswick today at the Waterfront as they look to close out their historic undefeated season. The race starts at 4:00 so get there by 3:45.

    Girls middle school soccer beat Herbert Hoover 3-1 on Friday. Bryonna Worthy had 3 goals. Great team effort girls!
    On Saturday 7th grader Mary Ann Walsh and 8th grader Jack Lukie represented South Amboy at the middle school Cross Country State Championships held at Six Flags Great Adventure. In the girls championship race Mary Ann finished 19th out of 138 runners in a time of 12:25 for 3000 meters. In the boys race Jack Lukie placed 12th out of 206 runners in a time of 10:51. Jack’s time is the fastest 3000 meters run by a middle schooler in Middlesex County, 12th fastest in the state of New Jersey and 183rd fastest in the nation this season. Congratulations to both runners.
