Dear Parents/Guardians:

There is an all call going out tonight.  Here is what the message contains:

Good evening, this is Sean Dunphy, Principal of the South Amboy Elementary School.  Today we had a shelter in place.  This activity went very successfully. During this type of activity the staff shuts the blinds, closes the windows and locks their classroom door, and then teaching resumes as normal. This is one of the many emergency activities every school has to perform during the school year.  Please speak with your children about the activity.

Dear Parents/Guardians:

It is that time of year again, and we need your help.  We are beginning the process of collecting nominations for the Educator of the Year and Education Specialist of the year.  Educator of the year is for any of our classroom teachers.  Please take a moment to recognize a teacher that has made a positive impact on your child's life.  We have many dedicated and caring individuals that help your children develop each and every day.

Each candidate will be scored based on the criteria below:

  • Inspires students of all backgrounds and abilities to learn;

  • Serves as an exceptionally skilled and dedicated educator in a public or charter school;

  • Expresses themselves in an engaging and articulate way;

  • Plays an active role in the community as well as the school;

  • Demonstrates leadership and innovation in and outside the classroom;

  • Has the respect and admiration of students, parent and colleagues.

We are all familiar with the term classroom teacher; however, educational service professional might not be as familiar. Here are examples of the titles for these professionals:

  • School Library Media Specialist

  • Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant

  • Reading Specialist

  • School Guidance Counselor

  • School Nurse

  • School Occupational Therapist

  • School Physical Therapist

  • School Psychologist

  • School Social worker

  • Speech-Language Specialist

  • Student Assistance Counselor

  • Paraprofessionals

You could nominate one person from each category by going to this link: Nomination form

I have also attached the form in a word document if you would prefer to write one for a staff member.

All nominations are due by Thursday, November 8, 2017.

All Call Going Out 10/19/17

posted Oct 19, 2017, 4:41 AM by Sean Dunphy

Dear Parents/Guardians:

There is an all call going out tonight, 10/19/17.  Here is what the message contains:

  1. As you know, the Kids Stuff book sale began about a week ago and is coming to an end.  Your child should have received one copy of the book for your reference.  On Friday, October, 20th we will be wrapping up the sale.  Therefore, I am asking that you please send in your money envelope if you are intending to purchase the book.  If you are not purchasing the book, please return it to your teacher immediately.  If you have any questions, please contact the South Amboy PTO.

  2. We are asking that, if possible, each student wears a blue shirt to school tomorrow, to show unity and support against bullying.

  3. Lately, I have noticed at the George Street exit that many students are running around, climbing on the walls and sliding down the stair rails.  This is a safety hazard.  Please try to have your kids refrain from these activities, I just don't want to see anyone getting hurt.

Thank you and have a great evening.

Sincerely,

Sean Dunphy
