All Call Going Out Sunday Night 5/21/17

Dear Parents/Guardians,


There are 2 important announcements that I will making an all call for on Sunday evening.


  1. As the weather gets nicer, please keep in mind that  the area around the school is a no smoking zone and a pet free zone.  As you drop off and pick up your children please refrain from smoking.   Also please do not walk your dogs around the school during entry and dismissal times, some of our children are allergic and/or scared of the dogs.

  2. This week is Spirit Week:  Monday is Pajama day (no Slippers please), Tuesday is Dress like the 70’s Day, Wednesday is Sports Day, Thursday is Purple/Gold Day, and Friday is Crazy Hat/Crazy Hair Day.

Congrats to Gifted and Talented class

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Congratulations to our G&T class headed by Mrs. Peterson.  They were selected by City Kidz World Magazine to grace the cover this past month.  Each one of the students who participated also had a written work published in the magazine.  The following students participated:

Elijah Perez, Aaliya Piperato, Lucas Ceras, Genevieve Pierre, Corrina Hatter, Liza O'Neill,  Jaylin Diaz, Eryk Gurdak, Sophia Pham, Saahir Vazirani, Irtaza Abbas & Luca Reagan.

Fundraiser on May 21

Dear Parents/Guardians:

There will be a fundraiser held in the South Amboy Middle/High School parking lot next Sunday May 21, from 10 am until 2 pm.  This is a "touch a truck" event, where children and adults will be able to interact with community vehicles.  The proceeds will be going to the Hugh Riley Rone Scholarship fund for the Middle/High School.  Please see the attached flyer for more information.

All-Call Going Out Friday May 12

Dear Parents/Guardians:

There is an all call going out on Friday, May 12.  Here is what the message contains:

Today, Friday, 5/12/17 we will be distributing our marking period 4 interim reports.  Please check your child’s backpacks and folders to make sure that they have brought them home to you.  If you have parent access to grade book you should be able to see the interim reports online as well.  If you did not receive a copy of the interim report and cannot view it online, please get in touch with the main office.

Remaining PARCC 2017 Schedule

Dear Parents/Guardians:

The remaining PARCC testing schedule is as follows:

Grade 4 Tuesday 5/2 and Wednesday 5/3 (9 am -11:15 am)

Grade 5 Thursday 5/4 and Friday 5/5 (9 am - 11:15 am)

Makeups will be the following week if necessary.  There will be all-call reminders to each grade level individually the night before testing.

There is an all call going out on Sunday night, 4/30/17, here is what the message contains:

As of Monday May 1, 2017, we are no longer allowing students to bring "Fidget Spinners" to school.  Unfortunately it has become a tremendous distraction both in class and out of class.

Honor Roll for Marking Period 3

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Marking period 3 ended last week.  We have many students in grades 4 and 5 that made honor roll.  In order to make honor roll you need to have an 85 or better in each subject area.  In order to make Honor Roll with Distinction you need to have a 93 or better in each subject area.  You can see all the students on the attached lists.

Congrats to all our students who made the honor roll this marking period!

Lip Sync Video

Dear Parents/Guardians:

There was a lip sync last night at our Middle High School.  The Elementary School was well represented with over 20 acts.  Here is a short video of some of the acts:

Grades K-2:
1st Place - Ethan Russo with special guest Sophia Hernandez
2nd Place - Gabrielle Evanski and Sophia Hernandez

Grades 3-4:
1st Place - Caleb Sambucci
2nd Place (tie) - Alexander DeGrazia
2nd Place (tie) - Angelina Vella

Grades 5-10:
1st place - Alexis Moakler, Lucia Racioppi, Biatriz Rodrigues, Lexi Yaretsky, and Raquel Yanez
2nd Place - Sebastian Fernandez, Ben Hernandez, and Isaiah Mercado

Great job by all contestants!
